Educators understand and apply knowledge of students, growth and development.

Students learn in stages and I recognize how students develop as learners and social beings.  In my practicum experience, I provide learning opportunities that support student’s intellectual, social, and personal development. I always plan to assess where my students are in  their learning and link it to students prior knowledge, encourage students’ reflections, and make connection to new information.  The cross -curricula integration of learning in other subject  areas also deepens the learning intention for students to make connection to real world experiences; and experience that are appropriate for their social, emotional, and cognitive development.  In mathematics, I used manipulative and tangible items to explain concepts in numeracy and spatial reasoning. Students also engage in hands-on tactile activities, using their fine motor skills to do their task.  Also, I discover my students  are wigglers, they tap, swing their legs, bounce, and often can’t sit still because of their age groups. Some of the successful project and independent works I did with them tends to be hands on activities.
